Although the Montepulciano vine is grown inside a vast area
covering almost all the provinces of Abruzzo, only the wine
produced on the Hills of the province of Teramo have been
awarded with the title of DOCG (Registered
and Certified Designation of Origin) wine.
Its superior quality and distinctive
features are due to the particularly favourable microclimate
of this area. The calcareous-clay subsoil is excellent for
vine growing; the presence of several streams encourage growth,
which is also enhanced by the sea nearby.
